        ALEX CARTER DEED TO BAPTIST CHURCH

County of Milam

        Know all men by these presents that I, A Carter Sr. of the State and County aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Dollars to me in hand paid by the Baptist Church at Sandy Creek of the aforesaid State and County, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath this day bargained, sold and conveyed and do by these presents bargain, sell and convey, transfer and for ever release unto the said Baptist Church at Sandy Creek as long as it is kept as a church, forever all my right, title interest and claim, in and to a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the State and County aforesaid, it being a portion of my original survey bounded and described as follows to wit;  Beginning S71 290 vars from the NW corner of J N Williams survey for the east corner of this survey and running thence S19 E230 vars to the SE corner from which a post oak leans, S44 E3 vars thence S70 W140 vars to the SW corner from which a post oak leans, N7 E9 1/2 vs thence N19 W230 vs to the NW corner from which a post oak leans, S73 W5 vars thence N71 E140 to the beginning corner, containing five seven tenths acres (5 7/10) more or less, to have and to hold the aforesaid land premises together unto all and singular the rights members and --?-- thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining of the said A Carter Sr, for myself, my heirs and legal representatives unto the said Baptist Church at Sandy Creek to them forever or as long as the church remains, forever and warrant and defend the right and title to the aforesaid land and premises firmly by these presents. Given under my hand and scroll by way of seal this 12th day of June AD 1869.  Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of W H Homan.
