- "George McKemey (M'Kemey, McCamie, McCamy, MeKemie and McAmie occur in records) came to America, leaving his wife to follow later, in the middle 1760s. Margaret Hutchinson McKemey followed her husband later and joined him at their house north of Wax haw Creek. They had one child, but it died. Their nephew, George Leslie, lived with them for a number of years and was named as George's heir." from Early Leslies in York County, SC by Vice Admiral Marion Emerson Murphy.
"George McCamy and Margaret purchased 220 acres of land from Rependence Townsend on January 13, 1776. This land was located on the north side of the Wax haw Creek, about 1/4 mile northwest of Samuel and Sarah Lessley in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina" from Lessley Family Records by Samuel B.
