Evidence:
- She was 23 when she married Wm. R. CLOUD, so not likely to have been married to SHANKLIN previously.
- 1880 census, Stillwell, Prairie, AR, she is Hester CLOUD, was 25 and born IN, her parents were born OH, IN.

* The AR marriage index lists Hattie THOMAS m. Wm. N. SHANKLIN Dec. 1881 in Carroll cty, AR. See 1870 and 1880 censuses below that show she did not marry until after 1880.
* The mother of Forest & Arthur AYERS was the daughter of Samuel THOMAS. She first married Wm. N. SHANKLIN Dec. 1881 in Carroll cty, AR. He died 1884 and she then married Robt. AYRES 1887.
