MISS C. V. KLECKLEY ANSWERS SUMMONS
Oglethorpe, Ga. - July 13, - Many hearts in Oglethorpe and vicinity were saddened Tuesday morning, July the 11th when it became known that Miss Val Kleckley, as she was familiarly called, had passed, at her home near Oglethorpe.
For many years she had been in failing health but this indisposition did not check her from duties or bar her from fellowship, for she like to mingle with her relatives and friends. Just the day before her death, she made a visit to a sick neighbor. On returning home, she seemed a little more indisposed than usual, but no one realized her grave condition until early Tuesday morning when death came silently and peacefully and freed her from the shackles of a frail body, and from the cares and anxieties of life, to live in a higher realm where there is no suffering, and where cares and anxieties are unknown.
Miss Val united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church early in life, and was confirmed to Mt. Zion Church where her great grandfather the Rev. Jacob Kleckley preached and labored so long, and like her worthy sire, she was noted for her kindness and generosity. She was the youngest daughter of the late John L. Kleckley and Caroline Daniel Kleckley. Her parents preceded her to the grave several years ago. She leaves one brother, Dan Kleckley of Oglethorpe, two sisters, Mrs. Mattie English of Oglethorpe and Mrs. Lydia English of near Oglethorpe with whom she made her home.
The funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church by her pastor, Rev. D. L. Heglar and her body laid to rest in the Church yard near by amid a concourse of relatives and friends.
The pallbearers were her nephews, Henry Joe Kleckley, Fred Kleckley and Moodye Kleckley, Frank Easterlin, Roy English and Henry B. English.
[Note: Catherine Valeria Kleckley Born September 13, 1875 Died July 11, 1933 is buried in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery beside her parents John L. Kleckley [1846 - 1923] and Caroline Frances Daniels, wife of John L. Kleckley [1840-1921]
