Cecil Evet Tekell, 82, of Wingate passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
He was born February 7, 1936 to C.D. and Beatrice Tekell in Runnels County.
He grew up and attended schools in Runnels County. He remained in Runnels County, where he was a farmer and later raised his family. He married Shirley Beth Modisett in 1954. After 48 years of marriage, she preceded him in death. On February 11, 2005, he married Betty Samford. He was a member and secretary/treasurer of Wilmeth Baptist Church for a number of years, as well as a long time Deacon there. Cecil was an avid fisherman.Cecil is survived by his wife Betty Tekell of Wingate; 4 children: Debbie Comstock and husband Don of Alabama, Sheree McCuistion and husband Kirk of Winters, Nathan Tekell and wife Teressa of Winters, and Linda Calcote of San Angelo; extended family: Brenda Hiler and husband Mark of College Station, and Kelly Blackerby and wife Vicki of Glen Cove; sister Eyvonne Lasater of San Angelo; 2 brothers: Wendell Tekell of California, and Roland Tekell and wife Norma of Tennessee; as well as 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Winters Funeral Home on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Winters with Brother Barry Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow at Wingate Cemetery under the direction of the Winters Funeral Home.
